As the typhoon Falcon drove through Manila and flooded its streets, I realized that I can actually compare myself to the followers who listened to Noah, or in my case, my aunt’s relentless heeding to come home early that night because of the rain.
The flood must be one of the ways God decided to punish the people this time. He must’ve thought that making the people stranded in their offices, schools, and homes, robbing them of something to do, and consequently forcing them to contemplate on their wrongdoings, was a more effective method of teaching them lessons rather than instantly putting an end to their miserable lives, although they won’t admit they have miserable ones.
While staying home the whole day yesterday, I imagined the boredom the people inside the ark experienced. I was at home for just a day and it nearly drove me crazy thinking of something to do. I can’t bear to be confined the whole day at home!
The next day, the rains suddenly stopped and the sun reappeared in the sky. I released a raven just to check if land was already visible…and hallelujah! It came back after 3 days with a twig on its beak! No, that’s not what exactly happened. But the next day, I went outside for my daily Autoload routine and as I was walking across the street, I saw the most brow-raising thing one could expect after a flood – a group of tambays huddled around a table gulping Red Horse at lunchtime. And I thought the great flood was supposed to exterminate these types of people?

Going Biblical, a rainbow appeared after the Great Flood that served as his promise that he will never destroy the world again through a deluge.
ReplyDeleteAs for those people, I agree with you. Why are there such people? And take note, ang mga tambays pa ang mga labeled (they claim) na poor.
this was a superbly interesting post.
ReplyDeleteGreat writing.
And you're EIGHTEEN?
ReplyDelete...Wow, respect!
But after looking at your accomplishments in the Hire Me page, I guess I shouldn't be surprised. :)
