| Nursing Chorale before the performance |
We certainly did a fierce comeback last night. It’s amazing how singing can hypnotize people and I can proudly say that all choirs did a great job with their performances. From the Medicine Glee Club to the UST High School Choir, who were eventually proclaimed the champions, one can be really amazed on how lively and vibrant the choral music culture in the University of Santo Tomas is.
It’s both a pressure and a prestige to compete at Himig Tomasino where every choir group from every college/faculty/institute battle it out for the top 3 prizes. Oh, yeah, I just remembered there was an award for best in costume. Do they even compete for that?
It was a really fun experience and a learning one too. It taught me how go beyond and exceed my limitations. Erase all fears. Remove all uncertainty. No room for anxiety. The stage is yours…own it.
After the performance, everyone was bursting with tears as we headed for the backstage. It was really nice that people in the auditorium appreciate all our efforts. Plus, students and clinical instructors then met us backstage to congratulate us. Too much emotional drama, I can’t stand it. :)

It was a redemption. Especially for an organization who has been less active for a couple of years, I can say that this is a big slap to all detractors, haters, and other unhelpful people. I can’t really say we’re already that good, but we’re getting better. For those who criticized us during our practices, especially to Maam Luy, Sir Loa, Maam Bonggar, Ate April, to the freshman girl who I forgot the name, and to the others (I can’t possible mention them all), a big thanks to all of you, you surely played a part in this success. I want to recognize also the following from our technical team, Kuya Joe for the lights, Ate Joan and Xandra for the make up/accessories, and Kuya RJ for the documentation.
Super thanks to Maam Vickee, our conductress, and the only rose among the thorns last night. You were amazing. Girl power, yeah!
To the whole College of Nursing, administrators, alumni, and faculty, a big thank you for the support. :)
I also want to extend my congratulations to the UST High School Choir, Chorus of Arts and Letters, and One Voice - Engineering Chorale, who placed Champion, 1st runner up, and 2nd runner up, respectively. To all the college choirs in UST, we share in this glory!
