While everyone is busy drafting their own valentine’s day post, I have to quietly sulk in a corner to wallow in my loneliness, realizing that it’s THE day for couples and yet my love and I don’t get to meet. Primarily, it’s because we were having practices for a competition next week and I didn’t have the chance to go home to our province. Another thing is that February 14 happened to be a Monday a.k.a a school day, boohoo.
Why wouldn’t the dates be scheduled like the Church calendar where we celebrate feasts and other events on every specific nth of a month? Say for example, the Protestant’s Reformation Day which is celebrated every the next Sunday following the 31st of October, or the Catholics' Feast of the Three Kings that takes place on the first Sunday of January. I strongly advocate our government to follow that schedule – not only it does lessen the people’s unjustified fixation on dates thus lessening the true meaning of the event, it also serves an equally good purpose, which goes by the term “Holiday Economics” which will, as quoted from Wikipedia – “reduce disruption to business and production schedules, encourage domestic tourism and give employees long weekends”
But then again, it wouldn’t still help if you see everyone wearing couple shirts even if the design is so fugly, or overrated, or both, having to pass by Dangwa only to see the busy people buying their flowers, couples walking everywhere with their arms clasped to each other’s, commuters in jeepneys who seem to come in two’s, couples having dinner in almost all possible locations you could eat, celebrating this joyous event and all you can do is contact your loved one through some mean of communication.
Positive thinking really does help at these points in time. I just have to constantly remind myself that we will be meeting this Saturday and celebrate our very own valentyn’s day without everyone celebrating theirs at the same time. Wouldn't that be more special? :)

tama :) it would be more speacial :)
