Binibining Pilipinas is airing on ABS CBN. Lovely ladies from all over the country shall compete again for the much coveted titles and the opportunity to represent the country in international beauty pageants. Being a pageant ignorant, I was just told days ago that it was in this competition where the reps for the Miss Universe, International, and Tourism are selected. Kill me now.
I wouldn’t really care who the winner turns out this year if not my batch mate from the UST College of Nursing who's competing. I’m talking about candidate no.9 Bernadette Aguirre. While she may not be the most beautiful among the candidates in my opinion, I could tell that she could devour them all with her confidence. I happened to watch her previously when she competed twice but failed to get any of the top spots in the The Search for the Ideal Thomasian Nursing Personality. The first time I saw her, I thought that she was too big a built to join the competition. She’s even got a bulkier upper body than myself. But look at her now, joining the ranks of the Philippine’s most beautiful in a national pageant. Sometimes I wonder what defines beauty and who sets the standards for it.
As for The Search for the Ideal Thomasian Personality, our local inter-collegiate personality search in our school, I would always wonder why they have set height requirements for the candidates. Most often than not, the better looking candidate aspirants seem to get an advantage as they seem to be more preferred over the less better looking. I mean, it’s a personality search for heaven’s sake! Does a small glitch in height makes you less of a personality? Does face value equate to a stunning personality? I don’t think so. I believe the The Search for the Ideal Thomasian Personality does not live up to its name as a personality search, it’s more of a beauty pageant where the face becomes the trade of the game. Good thing they’re not having tree planting activities, if they do, I’d barf.

I failed to watch he pageant and doesn't know who won the title but she is beautiful.

haha go bernnnn!!! oo nga. minsan nagtataka ako kung ideal nursing "personality" ba tlaga yung competition or beauty contest. pero atleast yung greenvent maasahang pang "personality" yung kinukuha since the past few years magaling naman yung mga nanalo.
