Mula Sa Puso the Remake

I've always dread the Holy week. Watching NatGeo and some old Filipino movies not only bore me to death but more so makes me want to go purge my innards. For a time, I've been wishing that Willie Revillame or Vice Ganda could poof out in the television screen and provide survivable entertainment. 

I flicked through the channels hoping to find something to resucitate myself from boredom and found myself watching the remake of Mula Sa Puso. Aired in the late 90's, Mula Sa Puso is a television series by ABS CBN starred by Claudine Baretto and the late Rico Yan. I was five or six year old back then when it aired and until just now, I've discovered how funny the plot can be. 

While Dawn Zulueta's (as Magda Trinidad) acting was very convincing, her wardrobe which consisted of  a tacky maid costume and fake side braids which resembled those of Eliza in the cartoon show, Wild Thornberries, were hilarious. This is then complemented by a equally unconvincing plot where Ariel Rivera (as Fernando) falls in love with his maid. Must see scenes in this episode are the part where Magda got burned while cooking and the good hearted employer caresses the hand of the maid and eventually kisses it. Kilig to the bones naman itong si Dawn. This is then followed by a scene where Fernando asks Magda to join him for dinner and where they share a plate, literally.

Out of a random circumstance, the director planned to end Fernando's current relationship (not the one with Magda) through a phone call with the phony reason of the girl not being able to give time to their relationship. And it ended there, Ariel helped himself for a couple of drinks and got drunk. Magda then, being an all around maid, helped to put his master in bed and kissed, this time in the lips.

After a few minutes, we could see that Fernando is leaving the country and after a few seconds we see his return with a new lover he now found. Madga, who is of course devastated but still wearing the tacky maid outfit, confronts Fernando and acclaims "Mahalin mo ako Fernando! Kahit minsan lang sa isang linggo, kahit minsan lang sa isang buwan, kahit minsan lang sa isang taon..." How desperate could she get?

Later on Fernando finds out that Magda got impregnated by the kiss in the early part of the story and then the theme song plays.
