The First Three Weeks (in bullets)

My first weeks of work were a complete adjustment. This is the week when I officially turned nocturnal, starting my day at 10pm and ending it at 6am. Like a hot metal immersed in water after forging, I was trying to absorb all the things I could pick up to be in the same temperature with my surroundings while still  trying to be in the ideal shape that I was forged for.

Here are some of the highlights on my first week:
  • My matrimony with the coffee vendo machine which held on even in the most difficult times, like staying awake at four in the morning.
  • Succumbed to flu which had me for a couple of days.  Kept asking myself if having this job is worth the effort. There was no substantial reason why I needed this job. My parents were not forcing me to get one, really. I applied for it just to have something productive to do.
  • Met the most liberated people on the planet
  • Found out that UST has the most number of grads who are currently employed by the company
  • Found out that I was the youngest in class

Second week:
  • Paranoia with grammar and pronunciation (Mispronounced words are like mortal sins in this industry)
  • Doubting even my own capabilities
  • Comparing the communication practices in nursing and in the call center industry
  • Caught dozing off and was asked by my trainer to explain something in front of the class. Said something nonsense because I was so clueless about the topic.

Third Week:
  • Gaining some specks of confidence
  • Mindlessly drinking over karaoke at six in the morning up to lunch time with office mates  (not really advisable)
  • Got my first pay! Kept some for myself, bought a new jacket (this is an imperative item for those working from the call center industry), and gave the rest to my mom
  • Getting better at troubleshooting the product. I still can't believe I'm studying cables/connections and doing tech support.
  • Did pretty well with the assessments except for the fact that my empathy statements always come late.
  • Took an exam which was so technical that it’s even harder than the board exam
