Manny Pacquiao: A Country Crippler

I was up watching the Pacquiao-Mosely fight on what they would call a free live streaming via internet. But thanks to the crappy internet connection, the live video streaming coverage turned out to be streaming pictures and 2 to 3 second video clips instead. One moment you'd see Pacquiao in a defensive stance, then the video lags for about five seconds and you see a still scene of Mosely face to face with the ground. We had no choice but to let our eyes, fixated on the screen, capture every minute of it - this includes the still scenes.

The pay-per-view companies must have connived with the live streaming sites,  taking their toll on the free viewing public by depriving them of all the action-packed scenes. They must've had the last laugh with their middle fingers up saying, "You thought you could cheat on us,did ya?" And yes, they have succeeded in sabotaging the thrill out of the million Filipinos.

Out of the desperate need to watch the Manny Pacquiao match. I suddenly realized "why do I even have to watch it?" I mean, come on, we all know he's going to win (which he did, by the way), get a hefty sum of money, and then go back to the Philippines for yet another grand celebration, countless T'V. guestings, and endorsements.

In yesterday's issue of The Philippine Star, I've read that AFP has declared an unofficial ceasefire to all detractors to "lead" the nation in cheering for Pacquiao. Although they promised that security measures will still be implemented, I seriously doubt if they still can manage to put up the same service they would've had sans the fight

We are a paralyzed country every time Pacquiao fights.  If I were a terrorist, I would've staged a bombing in those public viewing areas, bet I could kill a few thousands and let the AFP choke on their unofficial ceasefire declaration. But then, it seems that the terrorists themselves were also busy cheering for him that they too had been paralyzed to their seats.

While the President of the Republic currently seems unable to unite  us as one nation, Manny Pacquiao just did. I am not surprised at all.
