Just got home from Church and while I was listening to the Gospel, a thought entered in my mind, an idea which would be nice if realized. As we all know, during the Gospel they read or sometimes mouth the words written in the Bible which I believe is kind of boring. I know Mass is supposed to be sacred and all, but my idea, crazy as it sounds would make the Word of God it easier to understand thus simpler to apply in our daily lives. Another, one thing I observed is that people are more easily enticed by pictures, rather than sounds that is why it believe that my idea would really help in the Church's Mission. So here's my idea.. during the Gospel part, there would be a role playing of the characters (look at the red x- mark) mentioned in the Bible complete from the costumes to the backdrop , the lines would not be read anymore by the lector, instead they would be sung like a musicale piece by the chorale (see green x-mark) , there would be excellent sound provided by the big speakers on the blue x-marks.
but wait! there's more! another benefit of my idea is that it would keep the children glued to the Mass and minimize those going-to-church or in-the-church tantrums which I find very annoying.
What do you think?

I think that that would distract from the reading of the Gospel. The fact that our faith contains a sacred text is great, in my opinion, because compared to how people functioned before with only an oral tradition or the current leader's inspirations to guide them, having something actually written down provides clearer guidelines to the religion.
Moreover, because the Gospel is a message primarily made up of words (there are no pictures in the Bible), then to preserve its integrity, the Gospel should be relayed through words, at least in the context of the Mass wherein its original form is honored. If people are bored, then I think it is the people who need to develop a more robust appreciation of the text rather than making the Mass a chaotic theatrical extravaganza.
Thank you kuya for your opinion, but in my point of view, I think it would not distract the message of the Gospel because it is in the similar fashion as "showing" is easier to comprehend than "saying". I believe that the supposed role play would rather complement on the message the Gospel is trying to say by giving concrete examples to the people.
Just have to comment on your statement, "there are no pictures in the Bible", Why is it that in my Bible there are some pictures? Stick people to be exact? haha =)
To add to my statement before my "intelligent" interruption, I do think that due to the modernization of times, the forms of evangelization and cathechism has now taken a new light supported by the use of modern equipments in Mass, use of dances during the songs, etc. That is why I do believe that it is time to catch up with the new demands of our age and seek new ways to spread the Gospel.
But certainly, I agree with this, "If people are bored, then I think it is the people who need to develop a more robust appreciation of the text".
